Mets' Wright Pulling For Seahawks In Super Bowl

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Mets captain David Wright hopes the Seattle Seahawks knock it out of the park -- so to speak -- on Super Sunday.

"I'm rooting for Russell Wilson, because of his Virginia and baseball ties," Wright, who grew up in Chesapeake, told MLB.com.

But that wasn't his only reason to pull for Seattle over Denver in Super Bowl XLVIII.

"(Mets bullpen catcher Dave Racaniello) is a huge Broncos fan, and I can't take a whole summer of that punishment," Wright said.

Meanwhile, Yankees reliever David Robertson will be cheering on the guys in orange and blue on Sunday.

"I'm probably going to pick the Broncos," Robertson told MLB.com, "just because I like Peyton Manning."

Out of 27 players, coaches and broadcasters polled by MLB.com, 17 picked the Broncos to win the Lombardi at MetLife Stadium.

"Broncos, 31-23," said Don Kelly of the Detroit Tigers. "(Richard) Sherman can't cover all of them!"
