Mets' Hefner To Undergo 2nd Tommy John Surgery
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Jeremy Hefner will indeed undergo a second Tommy John surgery on his right elbow.
The New York Mets pitcher confirmed the worst-case scenario Thursday via Twitter. Hefner suffered a major setback in August -- another UCL tear and a stress fracture -- nearly a year after having his elbow surgically reconstructed.

The surgery will be conducted Thursday in Florida by Dr. James Andrews, ESPN reported.
Hefner went 8-15 with a 4.14 ERA in his first two seasons (2012-13).
His injury issues became a point of discussion regarding ace Matt Harvey, who also had Tommy John surgery in 2013. After Hefner's setback, the Mets told Harvey, who was counting on a return late in the season, that they would be slowing down his rehab.
Last week, the Mets announced that pitcher Jenrry Mejia went under the knife to repair a sports hernia and catcher Travis d'Arnaud had surgery to remove a bone chip from his right elbow. Both players are expected to be ready for spring training, the team said.
