Fans Turn Out With Enthusiasm, But Mets Lose World Series Game 4
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Mets stepped up to the plate Friday night and cut their World Series deficit to 2-1, but after Saturday night, they had found their way back into a 3-1 hole.
As 1010 WINS' Roger Stern reported, Mets fans had walked into Citi Field with confidence Saturday evening.
But Felix from Bay Shore admitted the Kansas City Royals are nothing to be trifled with.
"They're hitters. They're definitely hitters. They're not sluggers, but they're hitters. They know how to get on base. They're scrappy. They know how to play the game," he said. 'But we'll overcome it. We'll win. We're definitely win. We're the Mets.
As CBS2's Matt Kozar reported, fan Addie Russo was thrilled to be at Citi Field Saturday night.
"I can't describe it," she said. "They did a beautiful job with this stadium."
Russo turned 100 on Oct. 14, and she has been rooting for the Mets as long as she can remember.
"Don't laugh at me now," she said. "I talk to them on TV, you know."
Russo shared her story with CBS2 several weeks ago. After the Mets heard about her, they offered her two free tickets to Game 4 of the World Series. She had a view to catch all the action.
Russo was attending the game with her 34-year-old grandson – NYPD Officer Gennaro Russo. He's a Mets fan too.
"I love this woman more than anyone," Gennaro Russo said. "She's phenomenal."
