The future first lady emerged from the Blair House on Friday morning, wearing a powder blue cashmere jacket and mock turtleneck combination by Ralph Lauren. She paired it with matching suede gloves and heels.

"It was important to us to uphold and celebrate the tradition of creating iconic American style for this moment," the Lauren Corp. said in a statement.

Many were quick to compare the look to the outfit Kennedy wore to her husband's inauguration in 1961.

Some disagreed.

As long as presidents have taken the Oath of Office, first ladies have set style trends with their inauguration day fashion, and the Trump family women are no exception.

"The Inaugural Day outfits are crucial for setting the tone for the first lady's style and even for her demeanor," fashion expert Katrina Szish said.

She said expectations are especially high for the Slovakian-born former model.

"We definitely have high expectations for Melania Trump. As you mentioned, she's a supermodel, she's beautiful, she's elegant and whatever she wears looks gorgeous," Szish said.

But when it comes to presidential panache, equal attention goes to first daughter, Ivanka, who many said stood out Thursday afternoon in a green Oscar de la Renta dress and coat that popped against her family's sea of gray and black.

"I don't think it was about showing off. I think it was really about showing up and standing out in a very wonderful, strong way," Szish said.

At Thursday evening's candlelight dinner, Melania Trump donned an iridescent gold, floor-length gown by Reem Acra.

"Reem Acra is a Lebanese-born American designer, and of course that resonates with Melania's heritage also being the second ever first lady who's an immigrant," Szish said.

But she went all American on Inauguration Day.

"Melania nailed it, and of course working closely with Ralph Lauren, you really can't go wrong. The quintessential, iconic American designer. We're going to say an amazing fashion show I would say, unofficially, at the White House," Szish said.

Which means even more dresses to drool over.
