McNabb On WFAN: If Eli Has A Bad Year, 'This Could Be It For Him In New York'

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- The Giants might have won all their preseason games, but they didn't exactly look great doing it.

Eli Manning and the first-team offense struggled, and head coach Tom Coughlin and new offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo were clearly frustrated with the lack of production.

With the regular-season opener less than a week away, there are plenty of question marks surrounding the star quarterback and his unit.

Listen to Donovan McNabb

"To me it just seems that Eli's confused," former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb told WFAN co-hosts Joe Benigno and Evan Roberts on Tuesday. "The whole offense is not flowing with the chemistry, and it's gonna take some time. I think this is a make-or-break year for Eli. If he has another season like he had last year, this could be really it for him in New York."

The two-time Super Bowl MVP had a nightmarish campaign in 2013, throwing 18 touchdowns to 27 interceptions. Many pointed fingers at the offensive line and a lack of weapons in defending Manning's poor season, but McNabb believes that the majority of the blame ultimately falls on Manning.

"Percentage-wise, I would say probably it's about 60-40," McNabb told Joe & Evan. "And when a quarterback is in the 60-percent range of the turnovers, you don't really keep your job too long. Somehow, people can say, 'Eli's given a pass because  of the two Super Bowls.' Well in this league, it's what have you done for me lately? ... This could be it for Tom Coughlin, as well, if things don't go right."
