McDonald's Workers, Supporters Protest For Higher Wages In Chelsea

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - McDonald's employees and supporters protested for a larger wage increase in New York City Saturday.

Chanting "$15," hard hats stormed into a McDonald's on Sixth Avenue near 15th Street.

"These company, McDonald's and everything, they're making millions. We can't have $7,  $8 to provide for our families?  Come on," Sanford Hills said.

Hills was among a couple hundred laborers with Local 79 rallying to support fast food workers in their quest to make $15 an hour.

LaFondra Brown is a non-union construction worker and says she knows the struggle.

"They need more, we want more, we should have more," she said.

Supporters say workers of all kinds have to stick together in the fight against corporate greed.

"They're cheap scumbags and they should give it up.  They make the money. We're out here doing the work while they're up there twiddling their thumbs behind computers. We need the money, we want it, give it to us," Brown said.
