Second Man Charged In Alleged Plot Against Newark Mayor Ras Baraka

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A second man has been arrested in an alleged plot to kill Newark Mayor Ras Baraka.

Jerry Jordan, 65, of New Brunswick, had not been charged Monday related to the plot against Baraka. But police said the matter remained under investigation and charges could be filed.

Jordan was arrested Friday on an open and unrelated warrant, police said.

Jordan had been sought since Wednesday, when Baraka's office learned of the alleged plot. They have said a caller reported hearing two people dressed in camouflage at Newark Penn Station discussing a plan to kill Baraka.

Officers canvassed the area around Penn Station and soon saw the men on Market Street. The other man, Kenneth Curry, was soon captured, but authorities say Jordan fled on foot.
