Mayor Eric Adams expected to make announcement about LGBTQ+ social services
NEW YORK -- Mayor Eric Adams announced a huge investment for New York City's LGBTQ+ community Friday, as the city continues to celebrate Pride Month.
He said $6.7 million will go toward new programs and services, including support for young people and their families.
"Family rejection is one of the main causes of homelessness among the youth in this community," Adams said. "We will educate families and promote family acceptance, which will keep families together and give them the support they need."
The mayor held a roundtable discussion with members of the LGBTQ+ community to come up with the plan.
