Mayor De Blasio Signs Bill Renaming Streets For 2 Fallen NYPD Officers
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Mayor Bill de Blasio signed a bill Thursday, co-naming 56 streets in New York City.
"Two of the streets we are renaming will be in honor of two of New York's finest who died trafically in December," de Blasio said.
As WCBS 880's Rich Lamb reported, Ridgewood Avenue between Shephard Avenue and Highland Place in Brooklyn is being named Detective Rafael Ramos Way and W. 6th Street between avenues S and T, also in Brooklyn, will be named for Detective Wenjian Liu.

The mayor said the roadways will "be a permanent part of this city and a permanent reminder, permanent example, to all New Yorkers of their heroism and sacrifice."
The officers were posthumously promoted to the rank of detective after they were gunned down by a man who then killed himself in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.
Officer Ramos had just celebrated his 40th birthday on Dec. 12. As CBS2's Dave Carlin reported, Ramos had previously been a school safety officer with the NYPD. He would have been with the force three years this January. Ramos leaves behind a wife and 13-year-old son.
Those who knew him said he loved being stationed with the 84th precinct, Carlin reported.
Officer Liu, 32, was married just two months ago and is a seven-year veteran of the force.
