At Least 3 Firefighters Injured Battling Stubborn Blaze At Sushi Restaurant In Brooklyn
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Firefighters battled a stubborn five-alarm blaze for hours Wednesday in Brooklyn.
Flames broke out around 6:15 a.m. inside a sushi restaurant on Flatbush Avenue in Marine Park.
The FDNY said more than 200 firefighters responded, and three suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
"Very challenging, very stubborn fire. Numerous ceilings that were old, tin ceilings. It was stubborn, but nobody got hurt," Assistant Chief Richard Howe told reporters.

Heavy flames shot from the roof as thick smoke filled the air.
"I think I'm going to leave actually, because it's really smoky here and I can't breathe," resident Mariam Nasrashvili said.

"We saw the smoke coming up, everything coming up, so we came down here to check it out," said resident Joel Milord.
"I'm feeling, you know, fortunate," said Bruce Newborough, a Marine Park business owner. "But the most fortunate thing is that no one got hurt, thank God.
Flatbush Avenue was closed in the area. Officials asked people to avoid the scene.
