CBS News: Rubio Campaign Has Plan To Keep Trump From Getting Delegates For GOP Nomination

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., wants to make sure Donald Trump doesn't get the delegates needed to capture the Republican presidential nomination.

CBS News reports the Florida senator's campaign met with donors to ease their concerns about a potentially poor Super Tuesday showing, making a series of presentations to outlines Rubio's path forward.

According to CBS News, campaign manager Terry Sullivan informed those at the meeting that Rubio could receive as few as 100 delegates, but that the candidate's Super Tuesday doesn't matter in the long run.

The campaign has a plan to keep Trump from getting the required 1,237 delegates for the nomination, as the plan depends on the Republican primary remaining a three- or four-person race through the spring.

As of 8:00 p.m. ET, Trump has captured primaries in Virginia, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and Massachusetts. Rubio has none.
