How much snow did NYC get? Totals show how many inches fell around Tri-State Area
NEW YORK -- Another round of winter weather hit the Tri-State Area on Saturday night. While it wasn't a big storm, many municipalities saw up to half a foot of snow.
Now, our First Alert Weather team is tracking more chances for white stuff coming up this week.
Snow totals show how many inches fell
Our latest storm played out as expected, with mainly snow to the north and more sleet/rain to the south.
South Salem, in northern Westchester County, saw up to 7 inches, on top of the 3 it received from another system earlier in the week.
So far, some of the other highest totals have been reported on Long Island, with 5.1 inches in Nassau County's Muttontown and 4.8 inches in Suffolk County's Commack.
In the northern suburbs, Washingtonville in Rockland County got 4.1 inches and Armonk in Westchester County got 4 inches.
Bridgeport, Connecticut also hit the 5-inch mark, and West Orange, New Jersey saw 3.
Totals ranged from 3-5 inches in and around New York City. Central Park picked up 3.1 inches, which brings our monthly total to 4.6 and 10.4 for the season overall.
Compared to average, we're still about 7 inches below normal at this point in the season. But there's plenty of winter left!
We expect to learn more totals as the reports continue to come in throughout the day. Stay tuned for updates.
Tracking more storms this week
Following the latest storm, things shaped up nicely on Sunday. Clouds gradually gave way to some sun in some parts, Highs were in the upper 30s, feeling closer to the freezing mark.
Sunday night will be colder as temperatures will fall to around 20 in the city under mostly clear skies. Watch out for untreated surfaces, as any melting during the daylights hours was expected to quickly refreeze once the sun goes down. Wind chills will be in the teens for many waking up Monday morning.
Monday, itself, will be cold, but quiet. Highs will be in the mid-30s with wind chills in the 20s. We'll catch a break with plenty of sunshine.
It's short lived though, as we have an active week ahead. Our next system arrives later on Tuesday and looks to bring higher snow totals for southern areas.
But wait, there's more! Another storm will move in late Wednesday, followed by yet another possiblly next weekend. An early look at those brings a wintry mix of snow, sleet, and rain.
