Man, Woman Found Shot Dead In Ridgewood, Queens Home

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police Thursday night were investigating a suspected double homicide in Ridgewood, Queens.

The victims, a man and a woman, both died of gunshots, police said. But police told CBS 2 no gun was recovered at the scene.

Officers were sent to the scene at 1815 Summerfield St. in Queens around 6:30 p.m. They found the body of a woman identified as Natalie Mejia-Tavares, 21, and an unidentified man at the scene.

Mejia-Tavares had been shot in the torso, and the man was shot in the head, police said.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

A neighbor said the two were a couple living together, and they had just recently moved in, 1010 WINS reported.

The investigation was ongoing Thursday night. Police were searching for a weapon and a suspect, CBS 2 reported.
