Man With Heart Issues Revived Near Newark Airport Baggage Claim

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) - Authorities say a 74-year-old man found unresponsive on the ground near a baggage carousel at Newark Liberty International Airport has been revived by police officers.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey says four of its officers and two supervisors combined Thursday to help the Magnolia, Texas, man who was suffering from heart problems.

The man was found in Terminal C on Thursday afternoon. Responding officers began chest compressions and used a defibrillator to shock him five times.

The man then began breathing on his own and was conscious and alert when he was taken to a hospital.
