Man Suspected Of Shooting, Injuring NYPD Officer Pleads Guilty to Assault
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The man who was charged for allegedly shooting at police officers in Crown Heights, Brooklyn in February pleaded guilty to aggravated assault Friday, WCBS 880's Irene Cornell reported.
Rashaun Robinson, 28, allegedly shot at two uniformed officers who told him to get off a bus after he didn't pay the fare.
As Cornell reported, the officers, who had been pressured by the city and a federal court to cut down on the use of "stop and frisk," did not check Robinson for a weapon, but told him to get off the bus. Robinson then reportedly ran off, firing multiple shots at the officers.
He is accused of shooting Officer James Li, 26, who was wounded in both legs, police said.
Sources said Robinson showed no remorse when he was arrested, telling officers, "I hate (expletive) cops," CBS 2's Tracee Carrasco reported in February.
Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson said Robinson deserves the 25-year sentence he will get in September, Cornell reported.
