Man Waves Gun Behind Reporter On Live Television

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Police are investigating after a man appeared to wave a handgun behind a television reporter during a live broadcast in New York City.

The incident happened around noon on Wednesday as WNBC-TV reporter Michael George stood in front of the Brooklyn Supreme Court.

The man appeared to wave the gun behind George as he spoke about the Peter Liang trial, a police officer charged with fatally shooting a man in a Brooklyn housing complex.

A police spokesman said it's being investigated as a menacing incident. Officials planned to release additional video of the suspect later Wednesday.

A WNBC spokesman didn't immediately respond to a message seeking comment.

In August, reporter Alison Parker and video journalist Adam Ward, of Roanoke, Virginia, TV station WDBJ, were fatally shot during a live broadcast.
