Man Fatally Shot By Police May Have Been Involved In Similar Incident In May
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Officials say police shot and killed a knife-wielding man during a domestic dispute in Brooklyn on Friday.
Across the street from the East 26th Street home in Sheepshead Bay, Boris Kamstan said he saw police go in for 28-year-old Denis Volchkin.
"I heard one shot from them, boom!" he recalled.
Police opened fire on Volchkin after they said he lunged at officers with knives. Officers were at the home just after 7 p.m. because Volchkin's mother had earlier reported that he had choked her, WCBS 880's Jim Smith reported.
"Some problems were in the family; I don't know what it was but it was problems," Kamstan said.
Published reports suggest that Volchkin is the same man who was allegedly punched in the face a few months ago by the security guard of Kim Kardashian's best friend.
As 1010 WINS' Darius Radzius reported, Friday's incident appears to be very similar to what Kardashian's friend, Jonathan Cheban, experienced in May.
Cheban was allegedly attacked by a man who police identified as Volchkin outside a Brooklyn sushi restaurant, Radzius reported.
Volchkin's shooting was the third police-involved shooting reported this week in the five boroughs.
