The victim, a man in his mid-30s, was shot four times, police said.

The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Beth Israel Medical Center, where he was initially reported in critical condition, police said.

The victim was later pronounced dead, police said.

A man named Juan who lives in the development said the neighborhood has improved – but not enough.

"It's not shocking to know that it happened around this neighborhood. This neighborhood is known for its crime," Juan said. "It's not as it was before 10 years ago."

The victim's identity had not been released early Monday evening.
