Man Charged With Speeding Around Manhattan Busted For Driving With Suspended License

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) - A driver facing criminal charges over a speedy lap around Manhattan has been caught driving with a suspended license.

A Manhattan judge raised Christopher Adam Tang's bond from $10,000 to $25,000 on Tuesday because of his April 5 arrest in the Bronx.

Defense lawyer Gregory Gomez said Tang, 30, pleaded guilty to unlicensed driving, a traffic infraction, and paid a fine. Bronx prosecutors couldn't provide information on the now-sealed case.

Gomez would not say why Tang was driving.

In September, Tang was arrested after a dashboard-camera video showed his 2006 BMW Z4 making a 26.4-mile loop around Manhattan in 24 minutes and 7 seconds. His license was suspended as a bail condition and his car was seized.

The video, titled "Fastest Loop Of Manhattan 2013," was posted on YouTube on Aug. 28. It has more than 836,000 views.

The video shows the car heading south on the FDR Drive from 116th Street to Battery Park and then up West Street back to 116th Street. A superimposed stopwatch on the screen records the lap time.

Tang has pleaded not guilty to reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor.

Gomez has said there's no proof Tang acted recklessly.

Tang told authorities he never went over 100 mph and ran only one red light. The video shows the car stopping for six others.

Tang, a Canadian, previously rejected a plea deal.
