Man Charged In Arson Attack Caught On Video At East Harlem Deli

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A suspect was arrested and charged Thursday in an arson attack in an East Harlem deli last month.

Victor Lide, 36, was charged with arson in connection to the incident, which happened on Monday, Nov. 17, police said.

Around 2:05 a.m. that morning, the suspect walked up to the Saied Deli at 108 E. 125th St., approached the service window, and poured down an unknown flammable liquid, police said.

A surveillance video showed the suspect pouring the liquid and igniting it, setting off a small fire, before running from the scene toward Lexington Avenue.

"Sixty-five percent of the store is completely burned. This time of year business is kind of bad, I don't know what we are going to do," deli operator Sultan Alahal said last month.

Alahal told CBS2's Weijia Jiang at the time that the man to blame for the fire is a known trouble maker who tried to rob the store hours before the fire.

Police said employees were able to put out the fire and no one was injured.
