Long Island Housing Prices On The Rise
MINEOLA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Good news for those selling their homes on Long Island: Housing prices have jumped.
According to Multiple Listing Service, the average price of a home in Suffolk County has jumped 10 percent, and Nassau County's average is up 6 percent.
Lisa Kennedy, a real estate agent with Eric G. Ramsay Jr. Associates, said homes that are mint with new kitchens and bathrooms sell the fastest and for premium prices.
"It's really not an option to buy a house on Long Island and really not both people be working full-time," she told WCBS 880's Sophia Hall. "They're not going to be the weekend warriors at Home Depot. They're just not. They would rather buy something and pay a little bit more, have everything done and have their weekends free to live their life, especially when mortgage money is so cheap."
The average price of a home in Nassau is $435,000. In Suffolk, it's $330,000.
