Long Beach Votes To Keep Alcohol Ban On Boardwalk

LONG BEACH, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Officials on Long Island have rejected a proposal to allow alcohol sales at boardwalk restaurants in Long Beach.

The plan was rejected Tuesday night by the City Council.

Restaurant owners had lobbied for alcohol sales, saying it would boost business.

But opponents said allowing alcohol could drive up underage drinking, and change the family-friendly environment.
