London-Bound Flight Returns To Newark Due To Smoke Condition
NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A United Airlines flight from New Jersey to London returned to Newark Liberty International Airport on Wednesday morning after reports of possible smoke in the cabin.
A United spokeswoman said Flight 922 returned safely to the airport after takeoff Wednesday morning. According to United's website, Flight 922 departed Liberty at 9:33 a.m. and returned at 10:50 a.m.
Passengers disembarked safely, and no injuries were reported.
The plane was carrying 84 passengers and 13 crew members and was bound for Heathrow Airport.
Spokeswoman Jennifer Dohm said the flight was canceled and maintenance crews were examining the aircraft.
