Local Elementary School Students Get First Look At New Thanksgiving Day Parade Floats

MOONACHIE, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Hundreds of local schoolchildren got a sneak peek of five new floats that will debut at the 88th Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

"It's the most amazing thing in my life to experience this," a third-grader from Robert L. Craig Elementary School in Moonachie told 1010 WINS' Glenn Schuck.

"It was so amazing," another student said. "I want to go on all of them."

The new floats include Cracker Jack Popcorn's "At the Ball Game," Dora and Friends' "Aventuras Fantasticas," GoldieBlox's "Girl-Powered Spinning Machine," the Sino-American Friendship Association's "Beauty of Beijing," and Pirate Booty's "Treasure Hunt."

"Things are going to spin, bubbles are going to burst, it's all going to be 100 percent kid-powered," parade executive producer Amy Kule said.

In addition to the floats, six new giant balloons will make their way down Sixth Avenue this year.

Sixteen giant balloons and 33 mid-sized balloons will be a part of this year's parade. The new stars include the Pillsbury Doughboy, Pikachu, the Red Power Ranger, Skylander's Eruptor, Thomas the Tank Engine and Paddington Bear.
