Police: Man Caught On Video Stealing Packages From Brooklyn Apartment Building Lobby

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are asking for the public's help in the search for a man wanted in connection with two brazen burglaries in Brooklyn.

The man was captured on surveillance video helping himself to packages from an apartment building lobby in Bushwick, according to police.

It happened at a building on Lawton Street around 7 p.m. on July 19. The suspect can be seen walking into the building, and immediately start picking up packages and parcels on the floor and stuffing them in a white plastic bag before leaving, CBS2's Scott Rapoport reported.

He returns and looks around before taking a big box. He then leaves again only to come back and steal an even bigger box.

Police said he also got into an apartment where he took laptops and cash.

"That's horrible, very bad. I hope they catch the guy," one woman said.

"When people do that I think they're probably desperate," a man said.

Police said the suspect is also wanted for a burglary at 228 Jefferson Street on July 3. He apparently stood on a bucket outside a first floor apartment and reached into the window of a unit, stealing a cell phone inside while it was charging, Rapoport reported.

"It's crazy," said Danielle Goforth, who lives in the apartment. "The guy somehow managed to get himself up partway in the window, so his body was actually in the window."

Goforth said the phone belonged to her roommate.

Police describe the suspect as 18 to 25 years old, 160 pounds and was last seen wearing a black baseball hat, a white T-shirt and blue jeans.
