LIRR Service In & Out Of Penn Station Briefly Shut Down Due To FDNY Activity
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Long Island Rail Road service at Penn Station briefly came to a standstill Monday night.
The MTA said LIRR service was temporarily suspended in and out of Penn Station due to Fire Department activity during the 7 p.m. hour. Service was later been restored.
But delays persisted throughout the LIRR system due to the unspecified FDNY activity at Penn Station, and also due to icing conditions on the third rail and in switches.
Some trains were also canceled during the evening rush.
Details about the Fire Department activity were not immediately available.
