LIRR Trains Back On Schedule Following Switch Problem At Penn Station

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Long Island Rail Road says trains are running normally again after a switch issue caused problems for commuters during the morning rush Tuesday.

Trains on the Babylon, Hempstead, West Hempstead and Far Rockaway lines are now running on or close to schedule.

Riders were facing delays, cancellations and some diversions on those lines for hours earlier Tuesday due to Amtrak switch trouble at Penn Station.

Meanwhile, some NJ TRANSIT riders also faced problems early Tuesday morning, but those have been resolved as well.

NJ TRANSIT service on the Gladstone Line resumed in both directions after being suspended for hours between Far Hills and Gladstone due to ongoing overhead wire repairs near Peapack.
