LIRR, Metro-North Harlem Line Back On Track After Disabled Trains Snarl Morning Commute
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Long Island Rail and Metro-North's Harlem line are back on track while the New Haven line is still experiencing problems after separate disabled trains caused some major delays Monday morning.
Just before noon, LIRR trains resumed normal service after a disabled non-passenger train in one of the East River tunnels caused delays averaging 30 minutes throughout the morning commute.
Some inbound trains were rerouted through Atlantic Terminal or Hunterspoint Avenue while others were cancelled at Jamaica Station in Queens.
Meanwhile, Metro-North Harlem and New Haven line customers were also facing delays up to 50 minutes after a train became disabled at the Fordham Station.
Just after noon, Metro-North said Harlem line service had been restored. New Haven line customers were still seeing delays up to 30 minutes.
