Flooding Briefly Shuts Down 2 Branches Of Long Island Rail Road
HICKSVILLE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Flooding west of the Hicksville station briefly halted the Ronkonkoma and Port Jefferson branches of the Long Island Rail Road Thursday evening.
The LIRR issued a notice at 6:30 p.m. that the flooding had halted the two branches in both directions.
By 6:43 p.m., service had resumed on both branches, but residual delays were expected to persist.

Scattered thunderstorms were seen around the area Thursday, causing torrential rain and flash flooding.
For the rest of the evening, the threat for some more rain and thunderstorms does linger, but all activity should be gone by late in the evening, CBS2 Weather Intern Victoria Cavaliere reported.
