Serena Williams dominated Caroline Wozniacki 6-3 6-3 in a match that took only an hour and 15 minutes. Serena smacked over 7 times the number of winners (29 winners to Wozniacki's 4) and completely over-powered the 10th seed from Denmark.

I've always said that nobody can beat Serena Williams when she is playing her best tennis besides herself. She did come out a bit nervous but even with Williams tense in the first set, she still only gave up three games. There were five straight service breaks in the first set. Wozniacki didn't hold her serve until the 8th game of the first set.

The only winners for Wozniacki were an ace in the first set, an ace in the second set and a cross-court backhand on the run in the last game. Williams, who is a good friend of Wozniackis', applauded the shot.

The 32- year- old was able to three-peat, win her 6th US Open title and her 18th Major Title. Serena pockets 3 million dollars for winning the title and another million for winning the US Open series.

Williams' 18 Major Singles titles equals Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova's career singles titles which is the 4th most in history. After the match, they presented Serena a golf bracelet that reads "18."

After the win, Serena sprawled out on the court in great relief. It was her first Major title of the year.

It was a tough year for both players off the court. There was talk that Serena and her coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, who is also apparently her love interest, were having problems. And Rory McIlroy's very public break-up with Wozniacki after the wedding invitations were in the mail, was like "dealing with a death in the family," Wozniacki has said.

As to losing to the top player in the world and her close friend, Wozniacki said: "When she's on her game, it's not fun to play her." "18 Grand Slam titles says it all," added Wozniacki. "To have 18 Grand Slam titles and to be the person that she is, on and off the court, is amazing."
