LI Widow Sues Doctor For Negligence After Husband's Suicide
GLEN COVE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- The widow of a Long Island police officer who committed suicide last year is now suing his doctor for negligence.
As WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported, a loving, hardworking police lieutenant became a different person before committing suicide with his service revolver, attorney Jeffrey Lisabeth said.
Lisabeth alleges after many visits with Lt. Ralph Bruschini, Dr. Michael Deangelis failed to do any test that would have discovered Bruschini had pancreatic cancer and that the cancer was changing his personality, making him depressed.
"If he knew the reason for these physically debilitating problems, had a reason, put a name to it, this is not the way the ending would have come," Lisabeth said.
Deangelis could not be reach for comment, Hall reported.
Bruschini left behind his wife and three adult children. He committed suicide at the park where he used to play with his kids.
