Lawsuit Claims Suffolk Police Chief Beat Suspect While Chained To Floor
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island man is suing the Suffolk County Police Department claiming he was chained to the floor and beaten after he stole a duffel bag from the chief of the department.
As WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported, Christopher Loeb's attorney said her 28-year-old client suffered great physical pain after he was beaten while in custody at Suffolk County Police Department in 2012.
Loeb and attorney Amy Marion are suing the county, claiming Chief of Department James Burke beat Loeb for hours after he stole the bag that contained a gun belt and ammunition from the chief's SUV.
The suit claims he was also chained to the floor during the assault, Hall reported.
Loeb pleaded guilty to stealing the bag in 2014 and is serving three years in prison.
The police department had no comment due to pending litigation.
