Reports: Lamar Odom Opens Eyes, Speaks After Days In Coma

LAS VEGAS (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Lamar Odom reportedly opened his eyes and spoke Friday after being in a coma for four days.

Odom, 35, was able to open his mouth and speak sometime Friday, Alvina Alston, a spokeswoman for Odom's aunt, JaNean Mercer, told Entertainment Tonight.

A doctor asked Odom how he was doing, and Odom gave a thumbs up and said, "Good morning," ET reported.

A source told ET that earlier in the day, Odom was asked if he wanted to see his children and he communicated, "Yes." It was not clear whether he said "yes" verbally, ET reported.

Earlier Friday, Odom's aunt and godmother thanked the public for its support after the NBA star was found unconscious at a Nevada brothel.

The statement, released by Alston on behalf of Mercer, said in part: "No words can express the overwhelming gratitude we feel for the outpouring of support from around the world.''

Alston said Mercer is the sister of Odom's late mother who helped raise him in Queens, where she still lives. Mercer and other family members, including estranged wife Khloe Kardashian, are now in Las Vegas.

The statement says, "His complete healing is paramount and our primary focus.''

On Wednesday, childhood friends were stopping by the home in South Jamaica where Odom grew up and said they were distraught by the news. One of those friends, Albert McDuffie, said he was "still in shock."

"He's a great friend of mine," McDuffie told 1010 WINS' Mona Rivera. "Everyone's hoping for a great recovery, hoping he gets back 100 percent."

Meanwhile, Kardashian said her family won't be posting content online while attending to Odom's health crisis. Kardashian's rep confirmed Friday that the message on the reality TV star's official app was posted by the family.

It read: "As a family, we've decided to hold off on publishing content across our apps while we continue to support and pray for Lamar.''

The message was addressed to fans as a note from Kardashian. The blog-like app offers first-person postings with photos and advice.

Announcing a posting black-out is a rarity for the family, who meticulously document their lives on various social media channels and the "Keeping Up with the Kardashians'' show.

Odom remains hospitalized in Las Vegas after being found unconscious Tuesday at the Love Ranch brothel in Crystal, Nevada.
