Reports: Kings Hire Joerger As Coach; Rockets Interviewing Blatt, Vogel
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Sacramento Kings reportedly hired former Grizzlies coach Dave Joerger on Monday, removing one team from the competition as the Knicks search for their new coach.
Joerger and the Kings reached an agreement on a four-year contract, according to multiple reports.
Joerger, 42, went 147-99 in three seasons with Memphis, reaching the postseason each year. In 2015, he took the Grizzlies to the Western Conference semifinals. Memphis, however, fired Joerger on Saturday.
Sacramento had also reportedly interviewed Hornets assistant Patrick Ewing, former Hawks and Knicks coach Mike Woodson, ex-Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro and former Cavaliers coach David Blatt.
Blatt has also met with the Knicks about their opening, and he interviewed with the Houston Rockets on Monday, ESPN reported.

Houston is also reportedly planning to interview former Nuggets, Suns, Knicks and Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni and ex-Pacers coach Frank Vogel. The Grizzlies are interested in Vogel as well, according to reports.
Knicks general manager Steve Mills contacted Vogel's reps last week to gauge his interest in the job, but it wasn't clear whether team president Phil Jackson wanted to pursue Vogel, reports said.
The only other known candidate for the Knicks vacancy is Kurt Rambis, who went 9-19 as the team's interim coach this season after Derek Fisher was fired in February.
