Sources To CBS2: 1 Child Killed, 1 Seriously Injured After Being Struck By Car In New Rochelle
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- One child was dead and another was in serious condition after they were struck by a car in New Rochelle on Tuesday.
The incident happened at 4:30 p.m. at 230 Drake Ave., police said.
Sources told CBS2 that a 12-year-old girl had died after being run over by a vehicle driven by her own mother. A 10-year-old boy was in serious but stable condition.
As CBS2's Lou Young reported, it was a summer errand that turned suddenly dangerous after a mother with a number of children in the car put the car in reverse instead of drive and backed over two children.
A passenger in the car initially told Young that both had been taken to Jacobi Hospital.
