Katy Perry On Taylor Swift Feud: 'She Started It And It's Time For Her To Finish It'

LOS ANGELES (CBSNewYork) - Katy Perry confirmed her feud with fellow pop star Taylor Swift during Monday night's Carpool Karaoke Primetime Special.

"That's true, there is a situation," Perry told James Corden, adding that it started when Swift hired three backup dancers who were on hiatus from her tour. "Honestly, it's really like she started it and it's time for her to finish it."

"Get the work and she's great and all that. But I will be on record cycle probably in about a year, so be sure to put a 30-day contingency in your contract so you can get out if you want to join me when I say I'm going back on," Perry explained.

A year later, the three dancers left Swift's tour early to rejoin Perry.

"I think it's completely crazy," one woman told CBS2's Elise Finch.

"Especially when there's a huge pool of other dancers to pull from," a man added.

Battling over backup dancers might sound odd to some, but Keltie Knight, with "The Insider," says it's a big deal.

"When you are a star of an A-list caliber, your glam squad and your backup dancers are your family," she explained. "Not only were the dancers taken from her, but the dancers kind of had to admit your tour is not that great."

Perry's new song "Swish Swish" reportedly includes veiled references to the dispute with Swift. Swift's 2014 song "Bad Blood" was reportedly written about Perry.

"I tried to talk to her about it, and she wouldn't speak to me," Perry said. "I do the right thing any time I feel that it feels like a fumble. It was a full shut down and then she writes a song about me, and I'm like 'OK, cool. Cool, that's how want to do it?' Karma."

Perry went on to say she's ready for the feud to be over.

"What I want to say is that I'm ready for the BS to be done," Perry said. "I think personally that women together, not divided... Women together will heal the world."

A few of Swift's celebrity friends have criticized Perry on Twitter, but Swift has yet to comment.
