Actor Jonathan Majors arrested on strangulation, assault charges in Manhattan

Actor Jonathan Majors arrested after alleged domestic dispute in NYC

NEW YORK -- Actor Jonathan Majors was arrested in Manhattan on Saturday morning, according to police.

Police say Majors, who has starred in recent movies such as "Creed III" and "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania," was involved in an alleged domestic dispute with a woman.

Officers were called to an apartment in Chelsea around 11:15 a.m.

Police say when officers arrived, they found Majors, 33, and a 30-year-old woman who had minor injuries to her neck and head.

The victim told police she had been assaulted, and she was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

Police say Majors was arrested for strangulation, assault and harassment. He was later released from police custody.

A representative for Majors said in a statement, "He has done nothing wrong. We look forward to clearing his name and clearing this up."

Sunday, Major's criminal defense lawyer said he is "completely innocent and is provably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows. We are quickly gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped imminently. This evidence includes video footage from the vehicle where this episode took place, witness testimony from the driver and others who both saw and heard the episode, and most importantly, two written statements from the woman recanting these allegations."
