Jets Week 11 Injury Report: Antonio Cromartie, Darrelle Revis Duo Ready To Shut Down Texans' Offense
By Abraham Gutierrez
After a short two-game home stand, the New York Jets will hit the road – with no shortage of injuries – as they pay a visit to the surging Houston Texans. According to Todd Bowles' findings, Gang Green currently has 13 players total nursing some type of injury prior to Week 11.
However, Jets fans shouldn't be alarmed about that "unlucky" number, as there's a sense of optimism in the visitors' locker room. That's because out of that Baker's Dozen, only one player has been ruled out, two are questionable, and the rest are listed as probable.
With that said, that main concern are those who'll be conspicuous by their absence, which in this case is strong safety, Dion Bailey. The second-year pro out of USC will be forced to watch from the sidelines after an injured ankle kept him out of practice all week.
In his first season as a member of the Jets, Bailey is the owner of 22 tackles, a pass defended and a half-sack. With first-string (strong) safety, Calvin Pryor (probable) expected to play, Bowles and his staff can opt to promote third-stringer, Ronald Martin to help pick up the slack in Bailey's absence or move other free safeties around in certain defensive packages.
The two questionable players in New York's Week 11 injury report had a contrasting week in terms of practice time. That's because cornerback Buster Skrine (shoulder) had a full participation in practice, while defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson (hamstring) did not take a single snap on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. Either way, both players are in limbo, and will likely be a game-time decision in the Lone Star State.
As stated above, everyone else in this week's injury report is expected to contribute come Sunday afternoon at NRG Stadium. For starters, Jets fans would be glad to know that superstar wide receiver Brandon Marshall had a full week of practice, and thus, should put his stamp on this game despite nursing an injured toe.
Also worth a mention is quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who despite having torn ligaments in his thumb, is saving the organization a huge embarrassment by playing through pain instead of letting anyone else try to do his job. The Harvard product is coming off a full week of practice and will be key in the Jets avoiding their second two-game skid of the 2015 NFL season.
On the opposite side of the football, Jets fans are very well aware that whenever the Jets secondary is healthy this defense shines. But, when they are banged up, this "D" tends to give up plenty of points. Having that said, the fact that cornerbacks, Darrelle Revis (hip - full practice) and Antonio Cromartie (quadriceps - full practice) are listed as probable should put a collective smile on Gang Green Nation.
