Jets Sign Veteran DL Chris Jones, Waive DL Claude Pelon

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets have signed veteran free agent defensive lineman Chris Jones, who spent last season on injured reserve.

To make room for Jones, the Jets waived defensive lineman Claude Pelon on Tuesday.

Jones was a sixth-round pick of Houston in 2013 out of Bowling Green. He has also spent time with Tampa Bay, New England, Miami and San Francisco.

In 28 games, including 22 starts, with the Patriots during the 2013 and '14 seasons, Jones had nine sacks. He split the 2016 season with the Dolphins and 49ers, but was placed on IR last September by San Francisco and became a free agent in March.

Pelon has spent parts of the past two seasons with the Jets after signing as an undrafted free agent in 2016 out of USC. He played in one game last season and had two tackles.
