Robbers Try To Hold Up Jackson Heights Jewelry Store, But Leave Empty-Handed

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A group of robbers left a Jackson Heights, Queens jewelry store empty-handed Tuesday, but escaped before police arrived.

Around 7:45 p.m. p.m., multiple suspects entered the jewelry store at 37th Avenue and 74th Street in Queens. They demanded cash and jewelry from the employees inside, police told CBS2.

One employee set off a silent alarm, which alerted police who were a few blocks away, police said.

The suspects fled the scene before the officers arrived. They were not able to flee with any proceeds, police said.

No employees were injured, tied up or held hostage, police said.
