Islanders Open Season With Two On The Road

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Islanders will open their 2016-17 season with two tough road games before returning home to the Barclays Center.

The NBA released the 2016-17 schedules for all 30 teams on Tuesday.

The Isles will play the Rangers at Madison Square Garden on Oct. 13 and at Washington on Oct. 15. Both opponents were playoff teams last year.

The Islanders then will play 10 of their next 11 games at home. Their home opener will be Oct. 16 against the Anaheim Ducks.

Their longest road trip will come in late February and early March, when they play nine straight games away from Barclays.

Last season, the Islanders went 45-27-10 (100 points) and reached the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 1993.
