Man Dead After Weekend Shooting Outside Inwood Nightclub
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Bronx man was killed, and a second man was wounded, in a shooting over the weekend in Inwood – reportedly outside a nightclub.
Around 4:15 a.m. Sunday, police responded to a call of two men shot at 154 Post Ave. They found Ernesto Santiago, 31, of the Bronx, at the scene with a gunshot wound to the groin and a second man, 33, with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Santiago was pronounced dead a short time later at Montefiore Medical Center, police said. The second man was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital Bronx, where his condition was reported as stable, police said.
Multiple published reports indicated that the shooting followed a brawl that broke out outside the Tette nightclub, located at the Post Avenue address near the overhead No. 1 train tracks on Tenth Avenue.
Three to four gunshots were heard in the surrounding neighborhood, and numerous police squad cars responded to the scene a short time afterward.
The New York Times reported that three men and a woman were taken into custody several blocks to the north at 218th Street and Broadway, and charges were expected.
