Industry Insiders Check Out The Latest And Greatest Gadgets At Consumer Electronics Week
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Consumer Electronics Week is underway at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Chelsea.
As CBS 2's Cindy Hsu reported, the event gives industry insiders a chance to check out the latest and greatest gadgets and electronics.
A wild looking keyboard called 'trew grip' works with everything from your smartphone to your TV.
"Trewgrip is a hand-held keyboard, it allows you to type in a mobile setting which is one of the things you can't do now with laptops and tablets," Mark Parker explained.
There was a 70-inch TV from Sharp, that has twice the definition of your average HD TV, and a wide range of 3-D printers.
The loksak will keep pricey electronics dry during a day at the beach and the MiP robot and Elekokidz will keep children happy while you soak up some sun.
A high-fashion fitness tracker that looks like a fancy watch will measure everything from calories burned to sleep patterns while you focus on staying in shape, and the Skulpt can measure body fat on individual muscles.
"So I can put the device on my biceps, on my triceps, on my abs, so I can see how much fat I have accumulated there and how well my muscles are doing," Jose Bohorque explained.
For dog lovers the Voyce dog collar will let you know what's going on with your pooch.
"It collects everything from resting heart rate, respiratory rate, activity trends like distance traveled, and calories burned," Emily Hartman explained.
Users can download all of that information to a website to keep themselves and veterinarians up to speed.
The show is only for industry insiders, but most of these products will be on the market by the end of the summer.
