Hurricane Milton continued to affect flights at Florida airports Thursday. Cancellations and delays were reported at airports in the path of the storm.
A total of 1,970 flights within, into or out of the United States were canceled on Wednesday, and over 2,300 were delayed, according to the tracking service FlightAware. On Thursday afternoon, more than 2,200 U.S. flights were canceled and over 1,300 were delayed.
List of Florida airports
- St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) closed Tuesday after the last flight left until further notice.
- Tampa International Airport (TPA) closed Tuesday and plans to announce Thursday when it will reopen after examining the airport.
- Orlando International Airport (MCO) suspended operations at 8 a.m. Wednesday and said it would open again "as soon as it's safe."
- Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) is closed Wednesday and Thursday, and hasn't decided on opening Friday yet.
- Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) closed at 4 p.m. Tuesday until further notice.
- Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) suspended operations at 8 p.m. Wednesday and announced Thursday that arriving flights would resume at 1 p.m. and departing flights after 5 p.m. PBI advised travelers to check airline schedules because some flights have been canceled.
- Miami International Airport (MIA) was open.
- Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) was open.
- Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) was open.
- Key West International Airport (EYW) was open.
