Holiday Express Band Spreads Holiday Cheer With Free Concerts
VALHALLA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - A local band is spreading joy this holiday season with a stop Friday directed at lifting the spirits of sick children.
Concertgoers smiled, clapped and swayed in their wheelchairs at Blythedale Children's Hospital, courtesy of Holiday Express.
"You see a lot of heartbreak you're looking at. Now while the show is going on, it's about as happy as these folks can be. But you can just see all the back stories," band founder Tim McLoone told WCBS 880's Peter Haskell.
Kim Zuzzolo's daughter Mary is a patient at the hospital.
"She's smiling and laughing and enjoying," she said.
The band is throwing 70 holiday parties this year at no charge.
