16 Cars Damaged In Apparent LI Shooting Spree, Cops Say
HICKSVILLE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- More than a dozen cars had their windows smashed in a series of apparent BB gun drive-by shootings across two Long Island communities over Thanksgiving weekend.
Residents woke up to smashed car windows after an unidentified suspect or suspects went on a shooting spree, apparently firing a BB gun into vehicles on seven area streets in Hicksville in the middle of the night.
Cars on three area blocks in Levittown were also vandalized. A total of 16 vehicles were affected.
"We didn't really hear any windows breaking, we didn't really hear anything," one woman told WLNY TV 10/55's Steve Langford.
There were no reported injuries, just expense and hassle for the affected car owners.
"It kind of took away from our entire Saturday," Jackie O'Brien said. "We had to clean out the car and take it to get the plastic over the window."
According to local residents, police already have surveillance video that shows the attacker or attackers.
"I think someone knows who's going and doing this," Valerie Hughes, a victim, said. "I'm sure it's out on somebody's social media and hopefully someone will do the right thing and turn these kids in."
