Hempstead Man Faces Murder Charge In Girlfriend's Stabbing Death
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island man is accused of stabbing his girlfriend to death during an argument over the weekend.
Alan R. Espinoza, 26, of Hempstead, is charged with second-degree murder and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon in the death of 24-year-old Neyvin Espinal.
Nassau County Police Detective Sgt. James Skopek said Monday that the couple got into an argument, which turned violent.
"The argument escalated to where Alan did stab the victim in the throat and neck," Skopek said.
A roommate found Espinal's body around 4 p.m. Saturday.
Espinoza was arrested early Sunday morning and was scheduled to be arraigned Monday in First District Court in Hempstead.
Skopek said Espinoza and Espinal had been dating for a couple of months and had been living together for approximately four weeks.
