Heavy Rain Causes Flooding In New York & New Jersey
TAPPAN, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Friday's wet weather has caused headaches for drivers in New York and New Jersey.
CBS 2's Dick Brennan, who was driving around in Mobile 2, said the off and on rain has been doing damage.
Pop-up floods have been a major issue as drivers make their way home to start their weekend.
In Tappan, flood waters reached as high as the bumper of a car that was left sitting in a spa parking lot.
The owner of car told Brennan she thought she'd have a nice little time at the spa until she came outside and it was too late. The car had flooded quickly and there was nothing she could do.
Those fast-rising flood waters were seen on roadways as well.
In Allendale, New Jersey motorists made their way through a swamped intersection with waves of water splashing up as if they were driving through surf at the beach.
Route 17 also saw some flooding in one lane, forcing drivers to move over, slowing down traffic considerably.
Many local roads were seeing small flooding and debris from tree limbs as well, Brennan reported.
