Police Looking For 2 Men Connected To Harlem Triple Shooting; 8-Year-Old Girl, 2 Adults Hit By Stray Bullets, NYPD Says

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A young girl and her father were recovering Sunday following a night of trick-or-treating in New York City ended with both of them getting shot.

As CBS2's Cory James reported, it was a true Halloween terror for an 8-year-old girl, who, according to police, was out in Harlem with her father on Saturday night trying to get candy when bullets went flying and hit the two of them, along with another woman.

The NYPD said it learned about the three victims when 911 was called at around 7 p.m. for a 36-year-old woman who was shot in the right arm on Lenox Avenue between 116th and 117th streets.

After she was taken to the hospital, investigators said they found out the 8-year-old and her 39-year-old father were also shot at the same location.

According to police, the two of them were driven to Harlem Hospital in a private vehicle. The little girl was treated for a gunshot wound to her right knee, while her father received treatment on his right arm.

People in the community told James they are upset another weekend of stray bullets injured innocent victims, especially a child.

"It's sad and very irresponsible of people to just do that randomly when there are kids and families out," Harlem resident David Melgar said.

"Little kids, they look up to us for everything that is going on. This shouldn't happen at all, not here, not anywhere else and it's ridiculous," Angelic Santiago added.

Police released surveillance photos of the two men they believe are responsible for the shootings. They said both men are seen on video getting into a verbal argument that turned physical.

The altercation ended with both men pulling out guns and firing several rounds at each other, police said.

Fortunately, all three victims are expected to be okay. But right now police are trying to track down the two men who riddled the block with bullets while many families and kids were out on Halloween night.
