Greenwich Village Halloween Parade Canceled, Organizers Planning 'Spontaneous' Event

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- This year's Halloween Parade in Greenwich Village has been canceled.

Organizers are now planning what they're calling a "spontaneous" in-person event in place of the parade.

They say the event will be COVID safe and revelers won't know "what it is until you see it."

In the spirit of the holiday, organizers remind everyone to wear their masks.
